Common questions
What does Dayshut lock?
Only the apps, categories and websites you choose. Phone, Messages, Maps, Clock and emergency calls always work.
Is the camera recording me?
No. Brush Check analyzes frames on your phone as they arrive and throws them away. Nothing is recorded, saved or uploaded, and only the result (how long you brushed) is kept.
Can I shut the day early?
Yes, within your early-shut window (2 hours before bedtime by default). Your apps lock as soon as you finish.
What happens if I skip brushing?
Your apps stay locked past wake time until you brush in the morning. Your streak resets, unless you have a streak freeze banked.
What's a streak freeze?
You earn one for every 7 nights in a row, up to 2. A freeze saves your streak on a missed night. It doesn't cover emergency unlocks.
What if I really need an app at night?
Use an emergency unlock: a few minutes of access, twice a week by default. After bedtime it ends your streak. When they're used up, you can still break the glass after a 60-second wait.
I'm traveling. What happens?
Dayshut follows your phone's local time. If you change time zone mid-night, tonight finishes on its original schedule and the new time zone applies from tomorrow. You can also pause for up to 14 nights.
Does it work with electric toothbrushes?
Yes. Choose Electric in Brush Check settings and Dayshut looks for the brush at your mouth rather than big brushing strokes.
I can't use the camera.
Turn on Honor Mode in settings for a guided two-minute timer without verification.
How do I cancel?
In Settings > your name > Subscriptions, or from Manage subscription in Dayshut. When it ends, all locks are removed.
Your subscription
Subscriptions are billed by Apple. Manage or cancel them in Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your account doesn’t cancel a subscription.
Your data
Export or delete everything on your phone in Dayshut’s Settings, under Privacy. Signed in? Settings, then Account, then Delete account removes everything we hold. See the privacy policy.
